Fox Mill Elementary Garden
Help Fox Mill’s Learning Garden Thrive This Summer
Fox Mill families are invited to “adopt” the school garden for one week this summer by helping water, weed, and keep our edible garden growing strong.
Fox Mill’s learning garden has had a wonderful year of growth. Thanks to the work of students, staff, families, and garden volunteers, the school has completed supporting documentation for its first-ever Green Flag award, now pending final approval.
This year’s garden work included the pollinator garden, edible garden, indoor gardening, food sharing, and paper/cardboard recycling. The garden also welcomed a monarch caterpillar visitor, added nine varieties of mint to the “mint museum,” and now includes four blueberry bushes chosen and planted by founding student garden members.

What Does It Mean to Adopt the Garden?
Families can sign up for one week of summer garden care. Any level of help is appreciated, but a great baseline is watering the garden about three times during your selected week.
If you have extra time, light weeding is also welcome. No gardening experience is required, and Jack Wu, Fox Mill 5th grade teacher and Get2Green co-lead, will be in touch with families who would like a garden walk-through before their week.

Families Can Enjoy Fresh Garden Goodies
The edible garden is set up for a plentiful summer harvest. Families who help care for the garden are encouraged to take home ripe herbs and produce when available.
Herbs, including a great bounty of basil, are already ready to enjoy. Shishito peppers are flowering and may begin producing soon. Small amounts of strawberries and blueberries may appear early in the summer, while tomatoes and cucumbers are more likely to be available later in the season.

Can Your Family Help for One Week?
Help keep Fox Mill’s garden growing this summer. Pick a week, water when you can, weed if you have time, and enjoy the garden along the way.
Thank you for helping Fox Mill’s garden continue to grow, thrive, and support hands-on learning for our students.
